Discernment Counseling
If you and your partner are questioning the future of your relationship, you may feel caught between wanting to make it work and wondering if it can. You care about each other, yet you're not sure what comes next.
Discernment Counseling offers a structured space to slow down and gain clarity before making a decision about your future. This process is for couples who aren't ready to begin couples therapy, and are discerning the path forward.
You may feel like one of you is leaning in and the other leaning out, or that both of you feel torn. Parts of you want to stay and repair, while other parts feel uncertain or ready to step away. This work is not about fixing the relationship, it's about understanding it, so you can decide what to do next.
Structure & Next Steps
Discernment Counseling is a time-limited process, typically 5-10 sessions.
This process includes individual sessions in addition to joint sessions, allowing space to process and explore paths that work best for each partner.
Together, we move toward one of three outcomes:
- A clear commitment to couples therapy
- A thoughtful and respectful parting
- A decision to take more time, with greater clarity
This work may not be a fit if a final decision has already been made, if either partner feels pressured, or if there are unsafe dynamics present.
